Yes, yes. Those pesky rules, made by that pesky Headmistress Aurora. But she only wants the site to be as fun and as orderly as possible to make both her and our lives easier. But don't be fooled - these rules have to be followed, and Headmistress Aurora will enforce them if necessary. But don't worry, she's always had a kind, forgiving heart. Just don't push her, and everything will be alright.
THE RULES
) Read through these rules carefully. Yeah, that pretty much goes without saying, but I just want to make sure this one gets your attention. In order for these rules to be in place and work, you're going to have to read through them to make sure you can or will follow them. Most of them are pretty basic rules that you all should know from previous roleplays and such, so you should have no trouble understanding them.
) Please respect all members, not just staff. While staff members work hard (for the most part) and ask for respect, they're not the only ones who deserve it. Regular members also need to be respected, mainly for the purpose that they all are (I should hope so, anyway) human like you and me. So, please, respect other members no matter what ranking they are.
) Save the drama for your momma. Fights are common between people, that's just a hard fact of life. However, here on Failing Destiny, I don't want members fighting against each other. There's enough drama on the site between characters, don't you think? This rule is mainly to keep the atmosphere around here easy-going and fun, to prevent wars going on between groups of members that don't like each other because of something that happened at school.
) Character fights and member fights are not the same thing. A Slytherin and a Gryffindor getting mad at each other is a common occurence at Hogwarts. However, the person who plays that Slytherin and the person who plays that Gryffindor can't just go hating each other all because their characters hate each other. This rule is practically married to Rule 3, mainly because this rule will help prevent drama on the site.
) Cursing is allowed to a minimum. We've all cursed, or at least thought a curse word before. If you deny it, I'll think you're lying - and I don't like liars. But for the sake of the younger, more innocent members, please keep cursing in the c-box and in OOC threads to a minimum, alright? This goes for characters too, but I'll expand on that in the IC section.
) Play nice with the littler children. No, I don't mean go to the nearest pre-school and play with a bunch of toddlers. I'm referring to the newbies here, the members that keep this place going. Despite what everyone is determined to think sometimes, new members are exceedingly important to the site and its success. Which is why I have made this rule. This rule is to ensure that all new members who come here feel welcome. Which means that if a new member makes a thread, don't be stingy and ignore it. If your character can enter it, reply. If a newbie says 'hi!' in the c-box, be nice enough to reply. I hope that's understandable.
) Signatures can not be larger than 500 x 300. I hope that's understandable enough. This is just to prevent stretching of the board.
) Please make your display name all capital letters and the full name of your character. Why? Capital letters just look cooler to me, I guess. And also, doing this makes it easier on all staff members to identify and group together all the students and adults. It also makes it easier for other members to see who you play. Your username can be whatever you please, just make sure the display name follows these guidelines.
) Fill out all applications correctly and thoughtfully. I understand that thoughtfully doesn't apply to some applications, but I want everyone to pay attention to this rule. Please take your time and don't rush on the applications. Make sure you do them accurately and well. Yes, this rule also applies to the situation that if I ask you to wrap your filled out form in code, I MEAN IT. Please keep that in mind, thanks!
) Please write at least one good-sized paragraph whenever posting in character. Let's face it. We hate it when we go to the effort of making a beautiful, long post and then having someone respond to it with a single sentence. Some of us have seen it before, and it's kind of annoying, isn't it? So, here, instead of having a word count, we require at least a good paragraph. A good paragraph, you say? I'm taking six or seven lines makes a pretty good-sized paragraph. It can be more, of course, but a paragraph is the minimum.
) Wait until a staff member accepts your application before roleplaying. I'm pretty sure you all have heard or seen this rule before. If not, it means exctly what it says. However, while waiting for your character to be accepted, you are more than welcome to post in any OOC boards, such as the arcade or the discussion board. We wouldn't want you getting all tuckered our and bored now would we?
) No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. No powerplaying or godmoding either. These rules go hand in hand and you all understand them. No perfect characters, and if they get into fights, they can't dodge every single attack thrown at them. And no controlling another person's characters unless you have been asked by them and they are gone on vacation or have left forever. Understand? Good.
) You may have unlimited characters. Under one condition: you keep them all active. Also, you are only allowed to have up to two canon characters, in order to ensure the canons aren't all taken by one person. Got it?
) Don't join if you're just going to back out. I'm looking for commitment, and I'm sure everyone here on the site is too. If you plan on joining and not even bothering to make an application, then you ought to just turn right back around and head out of here. I don't mean that in a mean way, but I mean it when I say that I care about this site and I want people who stay with me here on it.
) Let us know if you'll be gone five days or longer. If you don't let us know, I'll assume you just left. Kind of stupid of me, but hey, I can get paranoid. If you haven't been on, then after two weeks I'll e-mail you or try to get a hold of you. If I don't get a response within another two weeks, your account will be deleted. I know that sounds cruel, but refer back to rule # 12.
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE
